20 seconds of fish at Port Adriano 🐟
It's completely mesmerising when you encounter huge schools of fish whilst diving. It's one of those moments where you really appreciate being a scuba diver! 😁
Do you know why fish swim in schools?
Safety in numbers... large clusters of the same species makes them much less of an easy target for predators. It also makes hunting for their own food an easier task as there are more eyes on the lookout!
It is also thought that fish school together in order to conserve energy whilst swimming, as clustering together reduces friction.

Controlled Emergency Swimming Ascent
The Controlled Emergency Swimming Ascent (CESA)
One of the most important skills to learn on your #padiopenwatercourse, but one of the skills you should never have to use...
When would you ever need to conduct a CESA?
1. If you've run out of air
2. Your diving buddy is too far away so you can't share their air
3. And you are 9 metres or less from the surface
The CESA teaches you how to reach the surface in a controlled manner if you find yourself in this situation.
Why should you NEVER have to conduct a CESA? Because in your Open Water Course you will learn important rules to follow when scuba diving. Two of the most important rules are:
- Always dive close to your buddy
- Constantly check your air so you know exactly how much you have left at all times
In your open water course you will practice this skill in confined and open water. It involves taking one breath, and slowly kicking up to the surface whilst releasing this breath slowly and continuously. In confined water you will simulate swimming to the surface by swimming horizontally for 6-9 metres (as seen in the video).
A technique that you can use is to say "ahhhhh" as you swim to the surface. This consistently releases small amounts of air from your lungs as you swim!
A look back...
A look back on the 2020 season... despite the pandemic, it wasn't too bad at all. We miss you all. ❤️
Let's hope for an even better 2021 season!

PADI Rescue Diver
The PADI Rescue Diver Course... many say it's the most rewarding, fun and challenging of all the PADI courses.
Take your confidence under the water to the next level. The best part is that the skills you learn are invaluable not just for #scubadiving, but also for every day life... it's always useful to know how to react when faced with an emergency.
Have you done the PADI Rescue Course? What was your favourite part?
